Five Simple Workshops in London: 1 week to go
2010 was the year Five Simple Steps grew from a one book self-publisher to a four title indie publisher.
Along with Andy Clarke's bestseller Hardboiled Web Design, we published two more titles in our 'Practical Guide' series: Brian Suda's 'A Practical Guide to Designing with Data' and Donna Spencer's, 'A Practical Guide to Information Architecture'.
We also announced further titles to follow in 2011, including 'A Practical Guide to Designing Grid Systems for the Web' by Mark Boulton,'A Practical Guide to Creating Web Content' by Relly Annett-Baker and 'A Practical Guide to Strategic User Experience' by Leisa Reichelt.
With so much great content, we're thrilled that we can give you exclusive access to our authors at 'Five Simple Workshops' next week.
The morning of Tuesday 25th January sees Mark giving an exclusive first peek at his brand new material on Grid Design. In the afternoon, Brian, on a rare visit from Iceland, explores some of the material from his book on Data Visualization. Leisa is delivering a brand new workshop on the morning of Wednesday 26th January, sharing her thinking on Strategic UX. In the afternoon, Relly will take participants through her practical tips for content and content strategy on the web - specifially aimed at designers and developers who may work on smaller-scale projects. Last but by no means least, one of the most well respected Information Architects in the world, Donna is running her full day workshop on IA on Thursday 27th January. It's a real treat for Donna to be in Europe. She spoke at UX Lisbon last year and UX London in 2009, so we're thrilled she'll be here in the UK.
Our workshops aim to be practical and useful with plenty of exercises to test out the theory. There will be no more than 25-30 per session which means that there should be plenty of time for the speaker to answer questions and get around to talk to everyone. Each attendee will receive a free pdf and paperback of the Five Simple Steps title relevant to the workshop (for the 3 books not out yet, we'll keep hold of your details and send you one once it's published). We're holding the workshops in Wallacespace in Covent Garden, which is a light, airy space rather than a windowless basement in a corporate hotel. Lunch will be provided for Donna's full day workshop only and refreshments will be provided for all workshops.
Tickets have been selling fast. All our early bird tickets have now gone but we still have some full price tickets available. With only a week remaining, we'd urge you to book your place now to ensure you won't be disappointed!
